Decorations will make the cook-off more festive for the contestants and public alike, so please consider
decorating your table in the theme of your choice. Chili themes, autumn themes, business themes, or other
themes of your choosing are okay, as long as it is descent and appropriate for the occasion. The museum
reserves the right to reject the display of inappropriate decorations.
Rules
1. Set up time is between 8 and 9 AM.
2. Judging takes place at 11 AM.
3. Ingredients for the chili may be pre-cooked individually, (such as browning the meat or bringing
canned tomatoes, etc) but the chili must be assembled and cooked on site.
4. You should make enough chili to sell to the public after the judging. Three gallons minimum is
recommended. You may keep the earnings, but only chili is allowed to be sold by the contestants. The
museum is selling beverages and other types of food. Remember, this is a fundraiser for the museum.
5. Do not display your entry number at your space. The judges will be performing a blind taste test and
the numbers are to be on the cup of chili submitted for judging only.
6. You are responsible for cleaning your space after the cook-off. Please leave it as you found it.
Trash receptacles will be dispersed throughout the area and emptied as needed. Thank you.
Thank you for participating in the 2008 Howling Hot Chili Cook-off & Hootenanny.
